BSc, MSW, RSWDirector
Sandy is a mother of two, a 4 year old son and an infant daughter. Her son has attended the Parkwood Children’s Centre since his first birthday which has meant experiencing all of the classrooms offered at Parkwood. She has served on the child care board for the last 2 years. This role has allowed Sandy to gain a better understanding of the ministry standards for the curriculum offered to the children and reaffirmed her belief that the educators do an invaluable job nurturing and stimulating the growth and development of the next generation. She has worked as a social worker for the last 11 years primarily with seniors and adults, specifically in a long term care type setting. Sandy has found parallel experiences with her job and the experiences of being a parent to a child in a centre. Both involve handing over the care of our most important and vulnerable people to others and she has found that open communication is key to having the best experience for everyone involved.
